Many people ignore signature links at different forums, they do not realise how important role they can play in marketing of their websites. Singature links can help in number of ways.

1) Promotion
When you place your website links in your signatures at different forums, it is a kind of free promotion to your website. People see your links, If the anchor text or description is good, you get many clicks. Its just like advertising on a huge billboard beside a busy road.

2) Traffic
You not only get free promotion from signature advertising, you also get traffic. When people are attracted towards the anchor text, some of them click the links and you get traffic. This traffic is highly targetted because people are interested to find out what they click.



3) Backlinks
Consider, If you have more than 1000 posts at a forum and you place your website links in the signature, Search engines will crawl them and count as a backlink and you'll have 1000 backlinks in no time.

4) Page Rank
The backlinks will help you to acquire better Page Rank. You can easily get upto PR4 - PR5 without buying any link. Just update your signature with your website links. Please note that the Page Rank update is not instant and it might take 3+ months to update.



5) Money
If you do not have website.. don't panic. You can sell the signature space to other people who are constantly looking to buy signature space. However, my advice would be to use them for yourself instead of selling them so you get better return.



You need to be careful about few things...

• Always read the forum rules about placing your links so you don't end up getting banned. Some forums allow limited number of links, some doesn't allow competitor website links etc.
• As soon as you join any forum, throw a signature before making any post so that any link you place is shown on all posts.
• Only place family friendly websites.
• Do not spam the forums to speed up your post count or you might end up getting banned.
